This includes defining security policies, processes and standards. The security analyst will work with the IT department to deploy technical controls in order to meet specific security requirements, and execute processes and standards to ensure that security configurations are maintained. Job Accountability Responsibilities Key Measures Essential Functions - (80%) Key tasks, duties, and responsibilities of position 40% - Security Execution Works with Railincs IT and business teams to identify security requirements, using methods that may include risk and business impact assessments. Assists in the coordination and completion of information security operations documentation. Develop and deliver reports to Railincs management concerning risk, vulnerabilities and other security exposures, including misuse of assets. Play an advisory role in application development or IT investment efforts to assess security requirements and controls and to ensure that security controls are implemented as planned. Collaborate on critical IT projects to ensure that security issues are addressed throughout the project life cycle. Research, evaluate and recommend information-security-related hardware and software, including developing business cases for security investments. 20% - Audit Support Develops relationship with the audit group. Receives audit findings, and assists in the collection of responses and remediation plans with owners. Works within the information security governance process to define control recommendations that are both efficient and effective. Works with Sr. Security staff to provides oversight and management of audit finding remediation, including generating requirements for full remediation, providing feedback and suggestions on managerial responses to findings, and tracking progress and providing status and updates to the enterprise compliance team for reporting purposes. Maintains an awareness of existing and proposed guidance being established by the Rail Information Security Committee (RISC)] 20% - Assessments, testing, and incident management Assists in the execution of control and vulnerability assessments to identify control weaknesses and assess the effectiveness of existing controls, and recommendations for remediation. Assists in the execution of risk assessment activities, analyzing the results of audits (performed by other groups) and provides input into the creation of recommendations of acceptable risk and risk mitigation strategies. Assists in the deploying, tuning and running of vulnerability-scanning and penetration-testing tools. Provides primary support and analysis during and after a security incident. Assists IT staff in the resolution of reported security incidents. Participates in investigations and compliance reviews Monitors daily or weekly reports and security logs for unusual events. Researches and assesses new threats and security alerts, and recommends remediation actions Provides guidance for security activities in the system development life cycle (SDLC) and application development efforts. Participates in organizational projects, as required. Alignment of organizations activities and security posture with the defined policies & standards.
