Summary: As part of the Security & Network Services team, the Network Security Engineer will provide support for network security design, build, implementation and maintenance of networks and security of APS. Hands on systems development, diagnostics and installation of networks that support multi-wan routing, bandwidth management, Wifi and endpoint protection within the APS infrastructure, Business Applications, and Student Applications. Scope of Work/Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement network security standards, procedures, and processes for APS. Ensure optimal system performance by designing, implementing and maintaining system configuration (i.e. SIEM, firewalls, servers, load balancers, and other security tools, etc.). Responsibilities include debugging, configuring, tuning, or changing system parameters. Work cross-functionally within APS and with outside vendors to coordinate updates to technology to meet current and long-term business needs. 3rd tier support for all security tools included but not limited to SIEM, firewalls, IPS, IDS, Multi-Factor Authentication, SSO, Anti-Virus, Content Filtering, SPAM filtering, etc. Monitor logs/reports from servers, firewalls, intrusion detection, network traffic, Email, Internet usage, access administration, for unusual or suspicious activity/violations, interprets activity, and recommends plans for resolution. Perform vulnerability scans and report findings to appropriate departments. Perform incident response Provide security support/recommendations for IT projects. Develop security diagrams, reports, policies, and User Awareness training. Research security vulnerabilities, issues, and new solutions. Other duties as assigned. Contract Duration: 1 year (initial) Option to extend annually - based on performance. Skills and Qualifications: 4+ years work experience (minimum) … 5+ years preferred: Strong analytical, critical thinking and communication skills needed to create instructions, respond to inquiries, and relay instructions to others Ability to develop, follow and enforce security practices. High degree of knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Firewalls, Active Directory, DNS, & Group Policy. Knowledge of network technologies and protocols. An advanced understanding of current threats and trends present in the Information Security,Technology, and utility operations fields. Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of computer security concepts. Familiar with broad technical areas which might include: networking, servers/virtualization/storage, Linux/Unix, Windows, information security Possess and demonstrates strong customer service skills; including conflict resolutions and customer interactive listening skills Must be self-directed, detailed oriented, organized and have excellent follow-up skills Knowledge of best practice security standards and techniques Must have clean criminal record with the ability to pass finger-print background check Must be authorized to work in the Unites States. Must hold a valid drivers license.
