The role is accountable to drive best practices, research and implement new coding practices, provide technical oversight to design reviews and operational readiness reviews, ensure that technical data package development is sufficient to support product support and also contribute to strategic planning for our application development strategy. This role is needed to provide the underlying stability and direction to a team of more junior resources. Okta is one major initiative that will greatly benefit from having an Application Architect on the team. Okta is the new enterprise standard identity management service hosted in the cloud, and it will initially be used for external user authentication to our applications. BITS Application Development & Support Section (ADS) provides application development, maintenance, support, testing, consulting, geographic information system (GIS) services, SharePoint support, mainframe support, application interface management, records search services, and project coordination services to a wide range of DHS business areas and their initiatives and programs like Substance Abuse Prevention Services Information System (SAIS), Community Aids Reporting System (CARS), Organ Donor Registry, Wisconsin Asbestos and Lead Database Online, DentaSeal and Grants Enrollment Application and Reporting System (GEARS) to name a few. We also work with the Electronic Health Records System which is supplied by Cerner. Cerner provides interfaces to many ancillary systems like patient billing, pharmacy medical dispensing, infection control and labs.
