Ability to generate, install, implement and maintain system-level software packages such as OS, Clustering, disk and file management, backup, web applications, DNS, programming languages such as c, Perl, Shell and secure shell. Ability to configure and troubleshoot complex applications whether third party systems as well as in-house developed applications. Develop, install and maintain utility programs/shell scripts used to manage application start, stop, end-of-day, monitoring and failure/recovery. Provide technical assistance to development for hardware/software selection, support personnel for system repair and operations personnel for problem management. Evaluate new technology and tools to identify cost efficient solutions to the management and operation of computer systems. Work closely with program management team to define project requirements, assist with project coordination, evaluate hardware requirements and recommend computing solution. Support all aspects of project life cycle through ITIL based Configuration, Change, Service, Incident and Problem management. Support operational, failure/recovery and performance testing in both the test and production environments. Strong understanding of programming routines for C/C. Participate in on-call rotation for support of systems and occasionally work alternate shift/weekend to support testing. Required Skills: · 6 years experience as a Senior Unix/Linux Systems Programmer/Administrator/Engineer · 4 years experience with shell scripting (ksh, csh, bash, Perl, Ruby, ssh) · 4 years experience with TCP/IP networking, knowledge of tcpdump · 4 years System Administration experience in a 24x7-production environment dealing with 500+ servers · 2 years experience with configuration management tool such as Puppet · 2 years experience with n-Tiered architecture · Experience with Red Hat satellite infrastructure and automation. · Experience with SANs (Storage Area Networks) across Unix · 2 years experience with Web based systems (Apache, Websphere, JBOSS, Weblogic). Java knowledge and/or experience is a plus. · 2 years experience with clustering and high-availability solutions (VERITAS Cluster Server or HP Service Guard) · Experience providing 2nd and 3rd level support. Work off-hours and weekends as needed. Preferred Skills: · Project/Release Management · Experience with SAN devices (HP, EMC, 3-Par) · Experience with tape backup and restore operations (NetBackup) · Experience with HP Proliant and Sun hardware (HPUX, Linux and Solaris) · Trading or Financial environment experience · Application Service Provider experience · Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
