Description: Scope Candidate should be a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and expertise in independently administering reporting systems -- specifically Tableau, Cognos, and WebFOCUS. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Custom Scope: Uses advanced systems/infrastructure concepts and campus objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Gives technical presentations to associated technical team and other technical units. Assignments may include systems administration, desktop support, business systems analysis, network support, security incident response, or a combination of these and/or other professional IT functions. Key Responsibilities % time Essential Key Responsibilities 30 Yes Applies advances systems/infrastructure concepts to define, design and implement complex reporting platform solutions. Analyzes, installs, and modifies reporting application systems. Supports OS level administration team in patching activities. 20 Yes Conducts systems programming and systems support activities. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Participate in project teams in deployment of custom applications and vendor applications into production. Coordinates the test and QA environment. 10 Yes Proposes and implements highly complex system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manages centralized computer servers and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware. Coordinates communication to internal SAIT team on scheduled server outages, patching and upgrades. 10 Maintains established security protocols on existing servers and suggests improvements to security. 10 Maintains a positive relationship with other departments and personnel that will assist in the development, funding, promotion, and/or public relations of the Data Services. Supports the success and objectives of Data Services. 10 Adheres to University and departmental policies, procedures, and professional practices as well as city, state, and federal laws. 10 Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner across the organization and at varying levels. Has knowledge, skills and abilities associated with problem identification and resolution. Has knowledge necessary to design, set-up, operate, and correct malfunctions involving application of supported platforms (Tableau, Cognos, WebFOCUS). Requires knowledge of other areas of IT. Requires knowledge and experience managing Windows operating systems. Must be self-motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills.
