Job Posting Title Decision Support Analyst/Data Analyst Job Description Summary Our client is looking for a Decision Support Analyst/Data Analyst to support its Business Intelligence "BI" Program. This initiative will provide BI tools and services for the staff and leaders to make better and faster decisions, gain new insights, and optimize business processes. In order to deliver these tools and services, this initiative is focused around the creation of an enterprise data warehouse which integrates data from multiple data sources to satisfy the reporting requirements for decision making. With the increased strategic importance of data and analytics, SOM and UPG are moving towards a data driven culture. This requires that while being mindful of current practices, the decision support analyst/data analyst should act as a change agent to support and modernize SOM and UPG to data driven organizations. Job Description: Decision Support Analyst/Data Analyst Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Requirements Gathering: Facilitate new data-driven thinking by identifying key business drivers and metrics Elicit and document business requirements by working with stakeholders; business requirements will include reporting requirements, data quality requirements, metadata repository requirements, user access requirements etc. Support IT to translate business requirements into technical specifications as needed Data Analysis/Data Stewardship: Assist with data exploration steps by determining source systems and data sets Perform queries utilizing diverse data-sets and analyze data quality, document data discrepancies and issues and assess the impact of data quality issues; Have proficiency in SQL for querying data from multiple data sources Manage the analysis of information and identify, interpret, and report trends or patterns found in data sets. Synthesize data analysis by creating graphs, reports, and presentations of results in order to make strategic and programmatic decisions. Have a fundamental understanding of the business requirements and has the expertise to build analytical models to deliver on those requirements; can rapidly explore and model new data sets. Ensure that policies governing data management are met, including security and privacy Non-Technical Infrastructure: Assess the effectiveness of existing nontechnical infrastructure components (naming conventions, standards, procedures, data definition, business rules, metadata repository etc.) and recommend a plan for improvement as necessary Determine business rules and mapping for ETL by working with the stakeholders Determine and document data definitions and other metadata contents by engaging key stakeholders. Ensure consistency in data definitions across all projects Reporting: Create reports and dashboards for specific requirements and solicit feedback from the stakeholders (Tableau) Develop ad-hoc reports and dashboards or expand on standard reports (Tableau and Excel) Testing: Create test plans, test cases and test to ensure the product meets all the requirements.
