Using a portal on www.ORU.com, O&R and its municipal partners now have real time access to road opening projects, applications, repairs and approvals. The system creates a uniform process, lowers postal costs, improves permit tracking and reporting, and offers greater transparency to all stakeholders. It significantly reduces the permit approval cycle time and facilitates project scheduling as well as the reporting of emergency work on the municipal road system. The responsibilities for this project deal with following a process to integrate 10 new municipalities within the O&R service territory. This effort will allow these municipalities to work electronically with O&R on issuing permits. Each municipality has distinct requirements that need to be programmed into the ROPES system.
