Engagement Description: -Assist with the monitoring and optimization of a multi-terabyte system -Analyze, recommend and deploy/perform various optimization methods to identify and mitigate performance issues and risk: -Identify users/jobs/queries that are impacting the systems poor performance. -Perform query tuning on poor performing reporting queries -Recommend improvements using collecting statistics, analyzing explain plans & determining which tables/columns needed statistics -Recommend data distribution and AJI options to improve query performance -Able to create BTEQs, stored procedures and other TD load utilities to support the ETL team for better load performance -Support project teams contributing to design and development in DB-related activities -Work collaboratively with Data Architects during data model design -Work collaboratively with ETL development team to implement ETL/ELT architecture and techniques for improving load performance Desired Profile -Bachelors Degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience -Minimum of 3 years experience as Teradata Application DBA and experience with Teradata 14 -Excellent SQL skills -Hands on data analysis skills in understanding the data -In-depth knowledge of Teradata ViewPoint and TASM feature set -Strong analytic and decision making abilities including problem solving and root cause identification and analysis skills -Good communication skills V both written and verbal; demonstrated proficiency in English required.
