Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or the next level of support. Major Duties: 1. Provide technical support in the use of personal computer hardware, software, and specialized print and programming technology or operates a multi- platform, complex computer environment or monitor the production scheduling, execution, and successful completion of production jobs 2. Sets up and configures desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level 3. Installs software and installs and repairs hardware and peripherals 4. Tests and debugs programs 5. Troubleshoots, diagnoses problems, implements corrective action procedures and/or escalates to other technical resources as appropriate 6. Serves as technical resource to Networking department 7. May act as team leader 8. Troubleshoots, repairs and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. laptops, disk drives, facsimile, and laser printers) tests personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problem 9. Acts as a customer liaison for the computing operation, communicating, resolving, and/or initiating the resolution of problems and concerns 10. May perform routine security checks on the system 11. Contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required. Knowledge and Skills: This position requires the following knowledge and skills 1. Three to five years of related experience with computers, providing customer service in a technological environment. Requires the knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, and operation systems. May be tested on appropriate computer skills as required. 2. Working knowledge of data and voice telecommunications in order to assist in the preparation of recovery procedures in this area. 3. Working knowledge of print processing in order to assist in the preparation of recovery procedures in the operational area. 4. Strong human relations skills to interface with managers and staff at all levels within the organization and to deal with vendors of delivery services. 5. Good oral communication and written communication skills. Education and Experience: 1. Associate Degree in Information Management, Computer Operations or a related field; or the equivalent in education and work experience. 2. 3 to 4 years of generally related work experience in a multi-operation system or production control environment preferred. 3.
