Description:

Project Lead Application Software Engineer (Business Intelligence)

Reports to IT Manager, Enterprise Data and Analytic Solutions



Position Purpose:

Lead the design, build, test and maintenance of scalable and stable off the shelf application or custom built technology solutions to meet business needs. Act as a subject matter expert for Application Analysts, Application Software Developers, and Application Software Engineers.

Lead cross functional teams through the entire implementation process



Responsible for overall solution design including building and testing



Conduct root cause analysis and advanced performance tuning for complex business processes and functionality



Identify, define and implement needed enhancements



Responsibilities

· Contribute to the entire implementation process including driving the definition of improvements based on business need and architectural improvements

· Meet with business partners to understand business needs

· Responsible for overall design of the solution

· Design, build and test applications

· Conduct root cause analysis and advanced performance tuning for complex business processes and functionality

· This role will be a member of a development scrum team of around 6-7 people

· Research and understand data and application issues.



Qualifications

Education/Experience:

· Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.

· 5+ years of related experience.

· Healthcare experience strongly preferred, requires demonstrated understanding of business process as it relates to experience in the field. Experience with SQL.

· Expert working knowledge of Business Intelligence Tools, including: MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Cognos or SAS. Experience with ETL preferred.

· Experience with various databases, including: Teradata, Oracle or SQL Server preferred.

· Cloud experience preferred.


Preferred Skills/Experience:

· Cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)

· ETL (Talend, Glue, etc.)

· Big Data (Hadoop, Redshift, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.)

· Script/Programming (Python, Perl, Scala, R, etc.)



Definition of success

· Develops scalable, well-tuned processes that meet business needs.

· Is able to troubleshoot medium to high complexity issues related to application functionality.

· Is viewed by peers, IT management and business partners as a key contributor to maintaining quality support of the enterprise Financial Analytics tools.

· Management is informed of roadblocks and issues that exceed standard response time.

· Needed accomplishments

· Become a Subject Matter Expert on Centenes ad hoc reporting environment and data warehouse in order to support development by ad hoc users.

· Become a Subject Matter Expert on Centenes suite of enterprise dashboards and reports.



Specific Assignments

· Architect, develop and maintain report & dashboard solutions and scheduling processes that support enterprise report and dashboard development

· Troubleshoot issues and respond to inquiries related to the Financial Analytics suite of applications

· Develop and maintain automated data quality and monitoring checks

· Performance tuning for on-prem and cloud
