The position involves managing a variety of storage related tasks, assigned individually or as part of a team, efficiently with a minimum of supervision. A team member in this position will ensure that support expectations are maintained or exceeded to accommodate Uniteds business requirements. Pre-Identified Candidate/Extension? No If yes, Enter Name of Applicant (No Value) Tasks to be Performed Working with various teams within Uniteds enterprise operations division to support the ongoing services, capacity planning, and performance management responsibilities of the Storage Team. Storage Area Network (SAN) administration and support including storage utilization/capacity planning. Performance of daily SAN activity monitoring and troubleshooting. Assisting in the implementation and documentation of all configuration changes and change requests. Administration of open systems backup hardware and software. Assistance with the planning, implementation, and operation of advanced storage systems and technologies as they apply to Uniteds SAN, NAS, and data protection environments. Ensuring the performance of all services provided by the Storage Team meet or exceed defined service levels. Participation in root-cause analysis of significant problems when necessary. Researching new storage hardware and software solutions to meet business requirements and suggesting clear recommendations for improvement. Assisting with development of storage pricing and performance models. Adherence to Uniteds storage strategy as it relates to designing, building, and delivering SAN, NAS, and data protection solutions. Evaluation of existing storage technologies and services for enhancement opportunities. Working with Uniteds project management team to achieve project timeline and budgetary goals. Produce or revise detailed technical designs based on approved architecture, standards and best practices. Assisting with the development and implementation of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans as they relate to the responsibilities of the Storage Team. Skillset Details Solid understanding of Operating System principles, and proven track record configuring and troubleshooting Unix, Linux, and Windows Server environments. Comprehensive knowledge of storage networks, storage devices, storage resource management, and data management concepts, technologies, and practices. Administration of Veritas/Symantec NetBackup (7.5/7.0/6.5). Understanding of NetBackup architecture including Master Servers, Media Servers, Storage Unit Groups, etc. Ability to work with and coordinate multiple technical resources. Exemplary problem analysis and resolution. Excellent written and verbal skills. Desire to learn, take the initiative, and assume responsibility. Ability to follow documented practices and procedures.
