Thorough knowledge of Networking and Infrastructure as it relates to ITS business. Design, install and support of Serial communication devices and protocols, Routing, Switching and Security/VPN technologies in the WAN/LAN environments. Ability to work effectively as part of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) team QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE (List knowledge, skills, abilities) 1. Experience with designing, configuring and troubleshooting complex network backbones. 2. Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of computer hardware and ITS traffic/data acquisition and control devices 3. Knowledge of serial communication technologies, MODBUS over serial/IP and NTCIP protocols. 4. Knowledge of routing protocols (e.g. EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, and BGP) in a mixed environment. 5. Knowledge of VLAN technology, VTP and STP protocols. 6. Experience in Access Control Lists, Cisco Firewalls, VPN technologies and other security technologies. 7. Solid understanding of network routers and switches. 8. Experience with data acquisition/control devices and sub-systems communications including but not limited to PLCs, RTUs, FACPs, ACPs, etc. 9. Knowledge of T1, T3, SONET, DWDM and OC technologies. 10. Experience with Metro-Ethernet technologies. 11. Experience in Network monitoring and management tools. 12. Experience in VOIP and QoS. 13. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to work in a team setting. 14. Ability to adjust to changing situations to meet emergencies or changing program or production requirements. 15. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of statistics. QUALIFICATIONS ACQUIRED ON JOB (List knowledge, skills, abilities) 1. Knowledge of the policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned unit activities. 2. Knowledge of the types and uses of agency forms.
