Waterfall RUP Application Development Microsoft Office Applications Business Analysi   Requirement id 18666 Job title Analyst Job location in Manhattan, NY Skills required Waterfall, RUP, Agile SDLC, Application Development Microsoft Office Open Date 08-May-2014 Close Date Job type Contract Duration 18 Months Compensation DOE Status requirement --- Job interview type --- Apply    Email Recruiter: coolsoft Job Description Analyst: Waterfall, RUP, Agile SDLC, Application Development Microsoft Office Looking for a Senior Business Analyst who has considerable experience in legacy migration/transition projects and familiar with Open Source or Windows web-based application development, to work for Sign Information Management System Program, an initiative to modernize/redesign/migrate the current Mainframe-based city-wide street sign repository to a web-based, GIS-enabled asset management system. - Provide customer support and analysis for MVS/VSAM based COBOL/CICS Mainframe applications. - Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of problems. - Export Mainframe data to relational database formats such as MS-SQL Server, MySQL, or other Open Source databases. - Prepare and maintain technical documentation for existing Mainframe applications. - Identify and document business rules and processes by analyzing Mainframe application code. - Identify opportunities for business process improvements. - Participate in and contribute to application/data migration planning. - Participate in all phases of the project life cycle. - Work closely with the QA teams, Business Analyst teams and Project Management teams. - Participate in project planning sessions to analyze business requirements. - Participate in status meetings. MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE - BA/BS Degree or equivalent, in a technology related field or other degree preferred. - 6-8 years of experience in specifying, analyzing and documenting requirements for mission critical business applications, at least 3 of which are in a web/client-server environment. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and confidently with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts. - Strong analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. - Strong facilitation skills and proven experience at driving consensus across multiple stakeholders. - Good presentation and leadership skills. - Must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks. - Process-driven analysis skills and a background in various requirements elicitation methods. - Proficiency with Waterfall, RUP and Agile SDLC processes. - Team player who can establish excellent working relationships with peers and other teams. - Ability to work on multiple projects as team lead or team member/developer. - Ability to estimate for delivery commitments. - Utilize application development environments, tools and methodologies across multiple platforms. - Experience using Microsoft Office Applications. DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE - Technically proficient in more than one language and platform. - Experience in ADABAS/Natural legacy Mainframe systems. - Development knowledge on Microsoft .NET or OpenSource technologies. - Expertise and knowledge of building large-scale asset management systems. - Experience with version control and release management principles. - Prior experience in federal/state/local government projects. - Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar certification. - Requirement analysis expertise with large permit management systems. - Exposure to GIS-based information technology projects. - Working knowledge of HTML, SQL, and database design. - Experience with web-based applications, database query tools, and Microsoft Office   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
