In addition the candidate provides leadership in ensuring that existing and new applications fit within the Funds technical architecture. Candidates for this position will have been exposed to a variety of technologies and are expected to understand how to deploy and support a technological solution even without extensive prior experience in the tool. Specific duties and responsibilities include: Have primary responsibility for activities related to the maintenance of the integrity and continuity of operations of the application portfolio supported on the Oracle platform. Plan, oversee, architect, develop, and implement application systems operating policies. Develop procedures to improve the performance and stability of the various application systems supported by the group, including database systems. Working with business and technical teams, participate in the evaluation and and selection of technical solutions, possibly overseeing or participating in the development of prototypes or proofs of concept; Identify opportunities to enhance overall application system performance by utilizing and applying knowledge of technology tools and applications Participate in the design, selection, testing, and implementation of solutions Assist application teams as required by coordinating technical work plans among developers, managers, operations and infrastructure teams. Develop and review operational documentation for production support. Review or participate in the development of implementation plans for new applications. Ensure that all applications fit within the Funds overall architecture. Monitor and analyze end user satisfaction with IT solutions and services Troubleshoot errors/production issues in COTS software Experience Demonstrated experience deploying and supporting complex technology architecture and sophisticated systems, particularly COTS-based systems. Experience with integration of multi-application solutions is particularly desirable. Demonstrated Oracle Administration experience, either as Application or System DBA. This includes installation, support, troubleshooting, monitoring, optimization, application of bundles, service packs and patches and other complex database management tasks. Experience with Unix shell scripting and Windows OS. Experience with the following: security, high-availability, SAN technology, Unix shell scripting, backup tools, monitoring tools. Demonstrated experience supporting systems in a 24x7 operational environment, in a high-pressure environment still dedicated to high-quality results. Skills: Desired skills include demonstrated knowledge of Application Servers (like Weblogic), Unix (any flavor, Linux preferred), Process schedulers, Web Servers, programming languages, large COTS. Several years of direct hands-on experience with Oracle database and tools. Requires a blend of skills including database system administration, network technology, Unix/Linux and Windows server administration, high-availability SAN and clustering, vendor interaction for problem identification and resolution, and understanding of advanced technology Ability to quickly grasp and learn new technologies and tools is essential to this position.
