Candidate needs to demonstrate advanced skills with all aspects of a Windows Server environment. Candidates should have experience at the Enterprise level and work well in process driven and government regulated environments. Responsibilities will include management, oversight and direct support of specialized systems and applications. Ideal candidates also have experience in the life sciences area and are very comfortable with architecture, handling multiple projects and bringing a wealth of ideas on how to accomplish system management tasks for complex systems across multiple locations. Job Responsibilities Setup and on-going maintenance of Windows Server systems. Conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Develop and maintain operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Follow and help develop standard operating procedures. Provide support and consultation to remote locations or clients in order to identify requirements and configuration resources. Work on short term and long-term requirements of systems operations and administration. Implement operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system. Maintain growth statistics, space forecasts, and software and hardware inventories. Adhere to published ITIL processes. Monitor and maintain compliance with system software licensing and hardware and software maintenance agreements. Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Create tools to ease production processes. Automate routine procedures. Maintain servers, creates monitoring reports and logs, and ensure functionality of links. Perform software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedule hardware and software installations/patching and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Install, configure, and maintain operating system servers, in support of business processing requirements. Troubleshoot problems, respond to escalation and perform repairs as needed. Work on system-level services to ensure proper patch levels on applications and operating systems. Ensure that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security, compliance and access management as per standards and policies. Participate in rotational 24x7 on call support duties. Work with the architecture teams to develop strategy, evaluate new options and toolsets for continual process improvement. Basic Qualifications Qualified candidates must possess the following skills/experience: 5+ years as a Windows server administrator Experience working with current and older HP ProLiant BL/DL Servers Expertise in general Windows systems administration, IIS web servers, and Microsoft clustering Experience in installation and monitoring of Application Servers (e.g. Weblogic, Tomcat, Apache) Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals. Understanding of VMWare technology 2+ years of experience in fast-paced high-availability production environments with an emphasis on remote "lights-out" management of systems.
