As a member of the Application Engineering & Architecture (AEA) unit, the consultant(s) will undertake duties and responsibilities as an Application Architect & Senior Tech Specialist and provide ongoing application development and support and production support of my|CalPERS and all of its sub system which are written in Java, Microsoft and php technologies. The work primarily involves the understanding the business problems and providing solutions that are technically feasible, aligned with existing enterprise and my|CalPERS architecture and meets the needs of the business users. The consultant(s) will be act as an Application Architect and Technical lead and will be responsible for major system defect analysis and resolution; review the design of major system changes to ensure solution meets the architecture guidelines set by AEA unit. Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing analytical work; triaging my|CalPERS production issues; identifying root cause and addressing in a stipulated time; defining technical requirements; creating or updating existing technical design artifacts for online, batch, report and interface processes, business rules, forms; analyzing data and providing SQL data fixes and database structure changes, and participate in implementation and release communication activities. Consultant responsibilities also include ensuring that all work performed under this agreement will comply with CalPERS Information Technology Services Branch (ITSB) policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Consultant support activities include providing solutions to the business problems, application architecture, application development, implementation, and post-implementation release support; triaging complex technical and infrastructure issues, providing automation assembly, system, End-to-End, and CAT testing support. Consultant is to submit to the contract manager a written monthly status report as part of this agreement and provide knowledge transfer to staff before end of contract. Senior Technical Specialist/Lead: Functions at the expert level performing analytical work in the design and development of architecture strategy, oversees the implementation of technical infrastructure and technology, and provides the architectural direction and guidance to enterprise systems, and may act in a lead capacity or may participate with other analysts on projects of a complex nature or broad scope. • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming; at least three (3) years of said experience shall have included responsibility on a project basis for analyzing operational methods and developing computer programs to meet desired results, at least two (2) years of said experience must have been at a high level both technically and in measure of responsibility. • Must have knowledge of electronic computer programming; electronic data processing equipment and its capabilities; principles and techniques of studying work processes for new or revised electronic computer applications; principles of designing methods of processing data; technical report writing; statistical methods. • Must have the ability to write complex programs and develop detailed program specifications; analyze data and situations, reason logically and creatively, identify problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions. <   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
