The person should be a self-starter; detail and customer service oriented, should have excellent written and oral skills and must also be able to work in a fast passed customer oriented environment. IT services necessary for the completion/deployment, required maintenance and enhancement for the following: Provides technical leadership for architecture, design, documentation and maintenance of an internal database and related systems. Oversees the evaluation, design and implementation of database enhancements and develops a long-term strategy for data storage. Provide ongoing support in the development of policies and procedures related to data security and integrity and monitors and limits database access as needed. Relies on extensive knowledge and professional discretion to achieve goals. Provides support for DB2 and LUW, diagnoses and resolution of database problems, and configuration. SCOPE OF WORK The DB2 DBA will work as part of a collaborative team in a fast paced environment while working in conjunction with DSS ITS teams. The individual will need to be able to have a self-starter mentality while being able to be a team player, and a willingness to learn and utilize new technologies. Able to work with end-users, vendors, and programmers to troubleshoot and implement opportunities in both production and non-production environments. Specific Services Required Bachelors degree within an IT related field or equivalent experience. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization. Working knowledge of the database installations, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, DB2 object creation and alteration, backup/recovery. Able to understand HA and DR in BD2 LUW Databases. Prioritize issues and tasks at hand, and able to work with multiple teams to help resolve issues in a quickly and efficiently. Required Skills / Experience Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years experience with DB2 Databases within an enterprise level environment. 6 Years of experience in Information Technology (IT) operations support areas. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment. Considerable knowledge of IT equipment and diagnostic tools; considerable knowledge of principles and techniques of systems analysis and design; considerable knowledge of principles of information systems; considerable knowledge of principles and theories of business and planning functions; considerable knowledge of capabilities of computer technology; knowledge of methods and procedures used to conduct detailed analysis and design of data systems; knowledge of practices and issues of systems security and disaster recovery; considerable technical problem solving skills; considerable logic and analytical skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; considerable problem solving skills; interpersonal skills; project coordination skills; considerable ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve data communications problems; ability to prepare manuals, reports, documentation and other written materials; considerable ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex business and technical problems.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
