General Description The Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Technology Architect is responsible for providing the enterprise architecture of the Offender Based Tracking System (OBTS) and other Operations systems in production. The Technology Manager ensures that the archi-tecture adheres to the Connecticut Enterprise Architecture - Technology Architecture (CTEA-TA) and the Global Justice Reference Architecture (JRA). This full-time position will report to the CJIS Program Manager. This is also a formal System Development Methodolo-gy (SDM) role. II. Desirable Characteristics The individual who fills this position should have solid systems architecture and design skills and the ability to transfer the architecture vision to the delivery team. The Technology Archi-tect must effectively balance: Leadership for technology architectures within the state. Preparation for and business acceptance of new technology approaches. Inclusion of legacy systems and data with a minimal impact to their current environments. III. Technical Experience Desired NIEM – National Information Exchange Model GFIPM - Global Federated Identity and Privilege Management NCIC – National Crime Information Center SharePoint IV. Required Skills The following skills or experience are required for this position: Masters or at least Bachelors Degree in computer science, Information Systems or related Technical Discipline A minimum of five year experience in software engineering directly involved as a principal technology architect Ten (10) or more years of experience in computer or network operations, production control, systems development, information technology analysis and planning V.Responsibilities The business responsibilities include: Providing the CJIS Managers with the architecture and design for the entire CISS environment. Planning, organizing and managing all facets of SDM and assisting the CISS team on SDM compliance for CJIS activities. Developing plans for future information technology services within the overall CJIS IT program; within the financial resources of CJIS ensuring the development of high quality, low-cost technology solutions aligned with the needs of this agency Fulfilling the SDM Enterprise Architect duties.
