Job Description Engineer: Microsoft MCP, MCSA/ MCSE, Cisco Networking, VMware VCP EMC SAN

Description:

Governor Malloy has stated that the CJIS Governing Boards projects were his highest priorities. In order to achieve the goals of the project, the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) is seeking to hire a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) who is responsible for systems technical architecture, implementation and operations for the systems supporting the Connecticut Information Sharing System (CISS). In addition, this position ensures that the requirements for the architecture defined by Xerox and CISS are implemented and supported.

The individual who fills this position should have solid Microsoft Technical skills and the ability to foster cooperation and coordination among the various technical partners and organizations within the state, local agencies and between the prime vendor, Xerox and its partners. This position requires an understanding of the CISS software elements, have an in-depth working knowledge of information exchange architectures, understand messaging fundamentals, and have strong interpersonal skills.

IT support relating to technical issues involving Microsofts core business applications, as well as virtual environments built on Microsoft (Hyper-V), and VMware
Support services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, SQL Server and SharePoint
Provide support for Dell R Series Servers
Assist in planning and supporting disaster recovery solutions
Technical services and support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
Remote access solution implementation and support: VPN
System documentation to include system reviews and recommendations
Configuration and support for High availability environments including Failover Clusters
Provide support for Cisco Switches
Optionally support Checkpoint Firewalls
Optionally support Network Load Balancers
Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively
Business awareness: specific knowledge of the customer and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals
Develop in-depth knowledge of the service catalog and how it relates to customers needs
Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
Responsible for entering work assignments, time and expenses in service ticketing system as they occur
Work through a daily schedule that has been established through the dispatch process
Understand processes in service ticketing system by completing assigned training materials
Review IT publications and online materials to remain up-to-date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry
The individual who fills this position should have solid Microsoft Technical skills and the ability to foster cooperation and coordination among the various technical partners and organizations within the state, local agencies and between the prime vendor, Xerox and its partners. The desirable skills are:

Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Cisco Networking (AIS, ASE, MASE) and System/Storage, Cisco CCNA, VMware VCP, or other compatible technical certifications.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft System Center Product Suite
EMC SAN experience including configuration, support, management and performance tuning.
An understanding of High-Availability and clustered environments along with Business Continuity Planning (Disaster Recovery Planning), redundant configurations and scalable architectures.
Knowledge of Information Technology implementations and support in Enterprise wide environments.
