Responsible for the planning, integration, casing, scripting and execution of all testing, including verification that products or services meet specified requirements. They are involved in all phases of the QC process and implement quality assurance objectives and processes, monitor and evaluate testing results against the predetermined objectives, and apply recommended actions for improvements. Quality control activities may include application, network, systems, integration and user acceptance testing. They interact with all members of the project team including architects, business analysts, systems analysts, project managers and with the development team to successfully integrate testing into each development phase. Works on projects of moderate-to-high complexity within one or more development environments. Other responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following: Developing and executing formal test plans, writing and executing test cases/scripts, and validating results. Communicates testing results and provides recommendations based on issues discovered. Monitors, evaluates and make recommendations on QC tasks within enterprise-wide processes such as change and release management. Assists in creating standard operating procedures and metrics based on best practices for the QC team. Identifies and proposes areas of improvement throughout the QA process. Adheres and champions QC processes. Identifies technical and operational problems on installed networks, systems and products. Works with the Business and Systems Analysts to interpret QC needs as requirements are being developed. Reviews business requirements and technical specifications for completeness and logic. Participates in technical specification review and provides feedback on content and testability. Translates business and technical requirements into test cases, test scenarios and scripts. Develops and/or implements reusable components. Executes test scripts/cases and monitors testing results. Captures and documents defects, metrics, and testing results. Assigns severity levels to each test issue discovered during the test cycle. Reviews testing results with appropriate IT teams. May make recommendations regarding software defects. Prepares, maintains and reviews documentation on all Testing phases. Contributes and adheres to requirements traceability matrix ensuring quality delivery. Documents and may evaluate system functions and response times based on SLAs. May suggest changes for efficiencies within or between systems, as it impacts projects and enhancements prior to implementation. May evaluate the environment, conditions and criteria under which test case automation should occur. Provides coaching to less-experienced individuals. Requires five to seven years of systems development and/or business experience. Ability to comprehend business requirements, technical specifications and change management documentation in order to develop test plans. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of testing tools. Strong knowledge of quality management. Possesses attention to detail throughout the QA and QC process. Strong knowledge of HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) test management software.
