Description: POSITION SUMMARY Atlanta Public Schools (APS) Case Investigators support the Comprehensive Health Services Department to perform infectious disease case investigations. The encumbent will be trained to assist with school district case investigations, contact notifications, and case management for individuals diagnosed with an infectious disease or identified as having close contact to a confirmed infectious disease. The primary role of the investigator will be to call and send relevant public health guidance to every person diagnosed with an infectious disease, gather their contacts, and proceed to call every close contact in APS. These efforts align with Public Health crisis protocol to control the spread of infectious disease in Georgia and promote a safe and healthy school district. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: · Bachelors degree in public health, nursing, social work, sciences, or a closely related field required CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: · Unrestricted Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of Georgia preferred WORK EXPERIENCE: · Experience in public health, epidemiology, case investigation, social work, nursing, or health education is preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES · Proficient phone skills · Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic · Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress · Knowledge of case investigation, testing, and contact notification processes in the context of a pandemic, medical crisis situation and a school environment · Ability to meet deadlines · Ability to show empathy to distressed individuals · Excellent organizational and communication skills · Ability to speak, read, and write English; with strong verbal and written communication skills · Ability to think critically and use sound judgment · Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism · Proficiency with computers and Microsoft office 365 applications · Ability to learn and master Student Information Software such as Infinite Campus and APS Data Reporting platform · Ability to work evenings and weekends ESSENTIAL DUTIES · Contacts and interviews, via the telephone, employees who have self-reported confirmed cases according to established protocol; provides instructions, gathers facts, collects symptom information and inputs data into the reporting platform. · Provides instructions for isolation, identifies close contacts, and answers questions. · Follows all scripts, policies, and procedures provided by APS Health Services department which align with Public Health guidance. · Complies with APS procedures and training regarding personal information, privacy, confidentiality, FERPA, and HIPPA. · Identifies close contacts of investigated cases, inputs data into the reporting platform, and notifies identified close contacts of potential exposure. · Responds to questions and provides information/recommendations regarding isolation and quarantine. · Communicates with individuals who are involved with cases in a professional and empathetic manner. · Consults with Health Services leadership, school nurses, district administrators, and data teams, as needed and, if necessary, refers   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
