Potential Documents could include: GIS Strategic Plan, GIS Standard Operating Procedures, GIS Governance documents, Desktop Procedural Documents for various GIS systems and procedures. These documents should be easily understood by both technical experts and engineering staff and management. The goal is to ensure all information is presented in a digestible and easy-to-navigate format. Duties and responsibilities: • Prepare various GIS technical documents as directed by the GIS Manager. • Seek input from relevant personnel in the GIS Section, ETS Section, and other departments throughout client. • Review and edit all material to ensure that policies and processes are easily understood. • Work with staff in the GIS Section and Office of Communication to best display the necessary content in a user-friendly manner. • Provide high-level writing, editing and proof-reading expertise. • Translate complex policy and process specifications into user documentation. • Test the documents on various audiences to assess its applicability, usefulness, and ease of understanding. Competencies: • Demonstrated track record in IT technical writing for cross-professional audiences; • A sound understanding of how to present concepts clearly and concisely; • Excellent writing and proof-reading skills; • Ability to create documents with a high level of attention to detail, resourcefulness and creativity; • Results-oriented, a team worker and a strong sense of corporate responsibility; • Knowledge of the GIS field is a plus • Ability to engage with a range of professionals; • Demonstrates openness, adaptability to change and ability to manage complexities; • Responds positively to critical feedback and differing points of view; • Able to work independently, multi-task and meet deadlines; • Excellent computer skills.
