Normal work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. After hours or weekend work is not common, but MANDATORY when needed. The duties and qualifications for this position are not congruently aligned with a Sub-Service category specified in the IT Services contract. We are announcing it as Software Engineer 1, but the duties are primarily technical support for the Galena pension administration system. Galena is a custom-modified version of HR Edge pension administration system implemented in 2001. It is obsolete and at the end of its life cycle. Galena is being replaced by a modern, vendor-supported system, and will be decommissioned in the second quarter of 2016. The Client does not expect to make any more code changes to Galena, but needs to maintain the capability to fix bugs or make critical code changes. This position is to function as a backup for Client s on-staff programmer/analyst in case of unexpected circumstances, but the primary duties will be solving performance and user issues and running queries. Required Skills: * Intermediate familiarity with Galena Pension Administration System programs * Intermediate familiarity with Galena DataBase Schema * Experience developing and reading VB6 code or successful completion of formal education class * Experience developing SQL 2008 scripts and queries or successful completion of formal education class * In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 – 2012 * Experience using PVCS Tracker   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
