Leading projects to improve validation controls (simulation / test), managing NPI issues. Typical Day: Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Developing robust validation plans comprising an optimal mix of simulation, test and field data with more focus on engine fluid (fuel, lube, coolant) systems to ensure engine products are durable and reliable. Leading and contributing to FMEA sessions and validation improvement workshops to identify failure modes and risks that can be mitigated and correlated with simulation and test Leading identification of controls of integrated knowledge model development for simulation as well as bench/component testing and engine testing Coordinating activities with L3 design owners, test teams, and simulation teams Championing a design-for-life methodology Communicating results to L3 design team members, test and simulation teams Managing all NPI issues Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Three to five years engineering experience required (combination of internship experience and hands on work experience). Advanced engineering degree concentrating in fluid dynamics is desirable. Technical Skills: Candidate must have a four-year engineering degree and experience in any of the following areas: diesel engine fuel system / lube system / cooling system/ brakes with FMEA / validation / design experience, 1D/3D fluid simulation skill, GT-Suite, Knowledge of internal combustion engines and a familiarity with FMEA risk assessment of fluid system components is required. Previous experience with engine validation and field problem/failure resolution experience, an understanding of the FMEA process and validation cycle Strong initiative, good communication skills and an understanding of customer needs and product application are a must, as well as excellent analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
