Viewed as an expert, the Enterprise Architect provides knowledge and counsel to others on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge within a domain. The Architect leads, consults or oversees multiple architectural engagement, and leads domain specific architecture boards. MIT is looking for an experienced Amazon Web Services (AWS) professional to enable MIT research initiatives and projects by designing and implementing solutions using AWS. The AWSCloud Architect/Developer will be working with MIT research staff and central IT resources to implement and provide cloud-centric DevOps services. Essential Functions: Architecture Strategy: Design and develop packaged solutions for containerized services for compute workloads. Be hands-on in developing prototypes and conducting Proof of Concepts. Consulting: Act as a trusted advisor and consultant to MIT researchers on all things AWS. Participate in crafting customer facing proposal responses. Participate in technical interactions with MIT research staff. Quality & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and analyze new commercial/open-source services/technologies offered by Amazon and other cloud providers. Collaborate with Amazon and their vendor ecosystem of Product Managers and Engineers. Technical Leadership: Lead team members on project involving data migration and implementation of new solutions on cloud platforms. Architecture Requirements: Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at a portfolio level. Align architectural requirements with IT strategy. Assess near-term needs to establish business priorities. Ensure compatibility with existing solutions, infrastructure, services, and strategic requirements. Research Evaluation: Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities. Consider potential impact to domain/portfolio architecture. Provide recommendations based on business relevance, appropriate timing and deployment. Identify the tools and components used within the domain based on the enterprise toolset and define exceptions as warranted. Project Status: Collaborate with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks, and benefits. Meet with project management and IT Leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements. Enterprise Architecture: Support all architectural disciplines and champions architectural initiatives. Interface across education, research, and administrative areas, acting as a visionary to proactively assist in define the direction for future projects. Provide input into allocation of invested dollars to meet Institute initiatives through review of development (business and technical) initiatives within the context of architecture. Review existing business processes and establish metrics to improve business processes, as well as support of all architectural disciplines under their direction.
