This position will work with the business and technology groups at MassDOT to develop an RFR focused on building a roadmap and cost estimate for a more complete disaster recovery capability. It is expected that the position will help select the vendor and coordinate their efforts as they build the roadmap and continue to oversee the implementation of the DR capability. This role will be expected to provide disaster recovery expertise, both around process and policy, and technical solutions. The ideal candidate will be able to understand business needs and priorities, while also understanding infrastructure, solution architecture, and platform engineering. They will be expected to advise on and agree prioritization with the business and ensure that vendors can provide the necessary skills to deliver the required services. Duties and Responsibilities • Work cross-functionally with different business and technology groups to understand DR needs and capabilities • Coordinate disaster recovery planning efforts and work with the ongoing COOP (Continuity of Operations Planning) efforts • Understand the RFR (Request for Response) process and issue an RFR for disaster recovery planning that includes the following scope: o Prioritization of MassDOT systems and applications o Feasibility assessment of DR capabilities for each system and application o Technical options for creating DR capability for each system and application o Definition of processes and policies for the DR program o Creation of a roadmap to build the DR program and implement technical solutions o Independent Cost Estimate for the roadmap and ongoing operational needs o Requirements and procurement strategy for implementing according to the roadmap • Coordinate vendor selection for the RFR • Manage the vendor and internal projects as part of the development of the disaster recovery program, including developing and maintaining all Disaster Recovery policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. • Ensure compliance with EOTSS (Executive Office of Technology Services and Security) policies and directives • Build awareness of the disaster recovery program across various levels of the organization • Serve as an advisor on DR matters and as the primary point-of-contact for DR related activities • Report on the progress of the disaster recovery program, including performance against plan and key metrics • Keep up to date with new developments and technologies related to disaster recovery and business continuity • Assist with assigned projects or research Knowledge and Experience • Extensive knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures • Subject matter expert in the area of Disaster Recovery Enablement • Experience with recovery automation tools, data replication, and other disaster recovery toolsets • Understanding of modern IT production datacenter and Internet hosting operations • Proficiency in infrastructure technology areas including server hardware, operating systems, networking, telecom, storage, virtualization, automation and orchestration, and cloud architecture • Broad knowledge of application architecture and software development techniques   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
