Provides on-going support for and mentoring of project team members in the use of Serena products and tool related CM processes including change management, version control, build and release management. Supports on-going improvements in documented Configuration Management policies, standards, processes and procedures necessary for establishing and maintaining integrity in software baselines in the tool. Enforces the overall Configuration Management Plan as it relates to CM tool use including the necessary procedures, policies and processes for establishing and maintaining integrity in software baselines in the Serena tools. Works closely with the Change Control Team to enforce CM and change management policies, rules, and processes. Documents and improves standard configuration management processes and procedures to include: version control, build and release management, CM audit reports, configuration identification and control, software product baselines, change management, and reporting in a controlled CM environment. May chair various process improvement teams. May also facilitate Change Control Boards (CCBs) and/or CM team status meetings. Participation in software process improvement efforts to build awareness of CM purpose and practice is also required. Is familiar with industry best practices in the Software Configuration Management discipline. Abilities/Skills: The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, demonstrate initiative and superior analytical, project management, and communication skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced technical environment with a customer service approach. Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills. Proficient in project documentation, process modeling and presentations as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of tools. Keen attention to detail and a strong ability to set and delineate tasks and coach trainees or software developers on SCM practices and processes. Must have 5 years combined distributed CM tool administration experience in any of the following tools. Dimensions, Serena Business Mashups, Mercury Quality Center, PVCS, ClearCase, StarTeam, Subversion, Team Foundation Server, Accurev, or Perforce. One year of Dimensions, Serena Business Mashups experience is strongly suggested. Requirements: An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a management science is required or equivalent hands-on CM experience in both a manual and automated CM environment. A minimum of 8 years combined configuration management, software development, SQA or related IT large shop experience. At least 3-5 years specific configuration management and tool administration experience. Previous experience establishing CM policies and processes for multiple platforms. Preferred: Two years plus experience with Serenas product suite. Knowledge of CareFirst business practices and organization. Knowledge of mid-range as well as client server environments for establishing configuration management practices. CM certification a plus.
