Other tools are acceptable in this role provided they can be composed into a delivery toolchain. *** What experience will set candidates apart from one another? They absolutely need to be experts in VMWare vRealize automation, powerCLI or Chef. We need them to also be self starters who can handle interviews with platform teams to collect requirements and quickly build solutions for automating infrastructure deployment. Some of the other tools will be important as well, but we will need to shift to delivery pretty fast. I would rank the skills in order of preference as Chef, VMWare and powershell/powrcli. Tools like terraform and languages like python can be equally viable substitutes in some cases for the above. You will likely hear about people using cloud formations or resource manager templates in AWS or Azure - those skills are not applicable here unless they also have strong VMWare skills, You will likely hear people ask about products like ansible, puppet and salt as substitutes for Chef - they are not viable for this project unless they are experts in one of those, but passable in chef This person will work as part of a team in Eden Prairie, MN and remote sites, working with local and remote teams building automation capabilities for infrastructure and application components. The work will be done in an Agile environment. This team will work on the actual implementations (end-to-end) of infrastructure, developing Chef recipes, python scripts or powershell scripts, working in a VMWare cloud environment.They will work closely with a local automation team for work direction and onboarding and will be expected to bring specific and very deep knowledge of Chef, vRealize and Jenkins technologies to ET to deliver automation capabilities. Additional tasks will be to educate existing staff while providing deep technical expertise for focused scripting tasks Candidates must possess a strong understanding of virtualized server delivery, network load balancing, highly available configurations, and experience with evolving cloud strategies.
