A network administratoris needed to augment State technical personnel to provide continuity of support for the successful delivery of data center services. Objectives: The results will be the successful administration of the current network infrastructure and successful completion of several projects. Projects include: security enhancements to the wireless network and devices connecting to it, consolidation of several disparate networks, upgrade to the CVO network with RSA enhancements, refresh of the wireless network controllers, integration of PKI for network devices, review and implement changes to the DMZ network.The expectation will be that there is no significant interruption of data services to the internal or external customers of client. Current Infrastructure The LAN network infrastructure is composed of Cisco Ethernet switches used for voice and data. Backbone consists of Cisco Nexus switches, edge switches consist of Cisco 4xxx and 37xx. The network includes multiple firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection, internet filtering and other data and voice network appliances. (WAN services are provided by the Office of Enterprise Technology). The server infrastructure is composed of Dell Intel based servers. These servers are made up of rack mount and blade servers. Included in the mix are 45 VMWare ESX 4.1host servers, and 240 Virtual Windows Server 2003 32/64 bit operating system or Windows Server 2008 32/64 bit operating systems. (These servers are used to run custom, proprietary and commercial applications as well as commercial databases; MS SQL, Sybase, DB2, Oracle). The storage infrastructure is composed of IBM SAN and disk systems. The SAN is made up of M48 Brocade switches. The disk systems include IBM XIV and a DELL Powervault NAS. The servers are connected to the SAN using the Fibre Channel protocol. The tape backup and recovery system is an IBM TS3500 tape library administered by an AIX Total Storage Manager server. This technology incorporates multiple storage pools, on-site and off-site tape repositories. Contractor Duties: The duties will be to provide on-site administration and advanced technical support in the areas of network administration and engineering. ? Follow Clients practices and procedures, and abide by Clients policies ? Follow Clients best practices in promoting the success of a complex computing environment ? Work professionally and collaboratively in a diverse work environment ? Work independently but are able to contribute to a team dynamic ? Quickly learn the Clients IT environment and how IT supports our users ? Understand the relationships with internal & external support resources ? Provide reasoned recommendations to enhance current processes ? Possess a working knowledge of hardware and software used by Clients ? Manage system upgrades ? Manage the security of the networking systems ? Monitor services and identify vulnerabilities and respond accordingly ? Manage availability and reliability of the systems ? Triage requests for assistance and resolve incidents in a timely manner ? Determine cause of problems and bring about a successful resolution ? Appropriately escalate problems to peers or vendors ? Perform system and application performance tuning ? Evaluate and install new versions of hardware, software, firmware, drivers and patches ?
