The Cisco Cloud Unified Communications team is seeking a senior and versatile software engineer to help develop our cloud-based calling offerings. In particular we are looking for an individual with expertise in open-source service monitoring solutions to complement our existing teams skills. Responsibilities The engineer in this role will be a member of a team responsible for the development of the infrastructure for operating cloud and hosted collaboration solutions. An initial area of focus will be to help architect and implement a service monitoring solution for a new service using open source technologies. Minimum Qualifications Experience working in a DevOps environment or in a service reliability engineering (SRE) role. Familiarity with monitoring philosophies such as RED and USE. Experience with implementing and operating service-monitoring solutions using open source tools (Elastic stack, Grafite/Grafana, Sensu, Nagios, Icinga, etc.). Experience with achieving service scalability and availability objectives employing such tools as Kafka and RabbitMQ. Experience with interfaces involved in retrieving events and metrics, including REST, JSON and SNMP. Strong automation and scripting skills (Python preferred). Intermediate Linux development environment experience. Intermediate understanding of IP networking, including TCP, TLS and DNS. Experience working in an Agile/Lean development environment. Clear spoken and written communications skills. Demonstrated adaptability to new processes and technologies. Minimum of 4-7 years industry experience with relevant degree. Additional Desirable Skills Experience in helping a team make the cultural transition to DevOps. Experience with application performance monitoring (APM) tools. Experience with machine learning. Experience with Git/Gerrit/Jenkins Experience with basic SQL queries Experience with configuration management and automation tools (Puppet/Chef/Func/Ansible) Experience in large-scale cloud deployment environments Linux systems administration (Preferably CentOS) Experience with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment. Understanding of network security technologies.
