This position is responsible for addressing gaps in staff training, process, procedure, and key-person dependencies (e.g. cross-training). Manage Unit Activities: Establish and oversee unit mission, goals, and objectives; supervise the day to day work of the team; establish measures, evaluate performance, and ensure employees have necessary skills to complete assigned work. Forecast demand, prepare budgets, and manage expenditures. Distribute tasks, coordinate stakeholder engagements, and ensure follow-through of assigned activities. Respond to personnel issues, coach employees, and take corrective actions when necessary. Engage Customers: Work collaborative with Enterprise Architecture, Security, agency stakeholders, and IT peer groups to seek new business opportunities, forecast demand, and develop new platforms, services, and offerings accordingly. Seek regular feedback and adjust operational practices and procedures to continually improve the value of services delivered to agency customers plans, strategies, and guiding principles. Maintain awareness of new technology and plan for the development of new services and maintenance of current services. Required Skills: This position will participate in strategic planning activities, direct outcomes, negotiate customer agreements, and manage operations of a team of broadly skilled engineers, technicians, and practitioners of infrastructure technologies.The position must be able to work independently without frequent direction, and develop unit missions and objectives from the organizational vision and overarching strategies. Experience with managing a diverse team of fixed and matrixed resources assigned to multiple and often competing customer engagements in a dynamic environment is critical.The position must be able to synthesize and apply different perspectives to a changing array of business/IT challenges, many of them crossing jurisdictional borders, governmental boundaries, and lines of business.The position must be able to quickly and accurately obtain a comprehensive understanding of emerging business and technical challenges, as well as their underlying sources/causes and implications to the enterprise. Substantial experience and skills are required in the following areas (examples included): • IT Operations, High availability designs and disaster recovery, Infrastructure Technologies, Server virtualization, Networking, Directory Services, Understanding of barriers to Application Performance and their solutions: latency, bandwidth consumption, network congestion, packet loss, transport throughput, etc. Application virtualization, • Leadership and Customer Engagement o IT/Business alignment – understanding of how to discern business requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions o Customer service/management; collaboration and consensus building; consultancy skills o Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization o Departmental budgeting and expenditure control o Team management - conflict resolution skills, ability to build strong teams and foster teamwork, ability to interact effect   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
