Job Description Consultant: Microsoft Project 2007, Microsoft Project Server, Portfolio Server, Managing Multiple Projects IT Applicatio

Description:

The client have a need for an experienced Project Manager/Scrum Master to join our team in the Generations projects area. The assignment will consist of managing multiple mid-size IT projects with the goal of delivering quality software products, within schedule and cost parameters. The initial assignment will consist of taking over the PM duties on several inflight projects where the employee PM is Transitioning new a new position, and we expect additional new projects to be added to the candidates responsibility moving forward. The candidate will work with teams of internal/contract developers, architects, BSAs, business users in a collaborative environment, which may involve agile methodologies as well as waterfall. The candidate should possess excellent project management skills (PMP preferred) as well as have a good base of knowledge on Agile methodologies, a Scrum certification is preferred.
We expect the assignment to last from 6-12 months, with the possibility of extension, and all work will be performed from our Columbus headquarters, travel is not expected.
Duties include:
• Serve as the Project Manager for current approved projects, as well as projects in the approval pipeline.
• Provide sound financial management of project funds, track and forecast costs accurately, and maintain financial reporting processes.
• Interact with stakeholders across multiple business units and IT to identify and prioritize project tasks, and schedule tasks in accordance with AEP and project delivery guidelines and methodology.
• Promote adherence to standards with regard to methodology, documentation, and quality assurance. Ensure compliance with our SDLC policy.
• Work closely with stakeholders, business and IT, to resolve conflicts in prioritization and staffing.
• Track and communicate status at a detailed task level and a summary level for a variety of audiences, from the project team to executive sponsorship.
• Track project issues and assign responsibility to resolve.
• Schedule, facilitate meetings to provide project status, reviews as required to keep stakeholders adequately informed on project status.
• Communicate any concerns with issues that may impact project schedule, budget or quality to the project sponsor and stakeholders.
• Consult with our Project Management Office to ensure compliance with standards and use of best practices and lessons learned.
• Guide the team and organization on how to use agile values, agile principles, and Scrum practices to satisfy customers and build a culture of trust, respect, simplicity, courage, transparency, and agility.
• Guide the team on self-organization to fill in the intentional gaps left in the agile and Scrum frameworks.
• Strive to form the team into one cohesive group, where members succeed and fail together.
• Remove impediments and guide the team to remove impediments to enable the team to progress.
• Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and questions asked without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving.
• Facilitate getting the work done without coercing, assigning, or dictating the work.
• Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
• Provide support to the team using a servant leadership style and leading by example, with a focus on operating from personal responsibility.
• Celebrate wins regularly with the team and stakeholders.
