The following are specific requirements for the position in additional to the general standard IT System Administrator III duties (listed below): 4 or more years of hands on experience as a Cognos Adminstrator including: - Experience in the administration and best practice configuration of Cognos 11 - Experience with a multi-server installation of Cognos in an enterprise - Experience performing both minor and major Cognos version upgrades and patches - Thorough understanding of Cognos security configuration and implementation - Experience monitoring, diagnosing and tuning performance of Cognos - Experience or willingness to support resolution of trouble tickets relating to Cognos. Knowledge of administration of systems with the following technical components: - LDAP authentication - Intel virtual server configuration - Linux commands and administration - Oracle RDBMS and basic SQL commands Additionally expectations include: - Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor and cross train team members - Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues alone as as part of the team - Willingness to occasionally support migrations or perform problem response after hours or on weekends as needed and with appropriate schedule adjustments - Willingness to support on-call rotation - Some Cognos development experience could be a plus but is not a daily part of the job and is not required - This is a true admin position. General Position Summary: Perform the planning, evaluation, analysis, and recommendation of technical computing products on medium to large projects - recognized as an expert throughout the department. Provide advanced level technical product support including response to user questions, installation, system monitoring, testing, problem diagnosis, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance. Facilitate and perform the delivery of technical services including the preparation of cost justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations. Formulate and direct the preparation of technical procedures, documentation, manuals, and reports. Maintain technical industry knowledge and understanding of AEP infrastructure.
