Required Skills: The Business Intelligence (BI)/COGNOS Developer must be highly experienced in all aspects of Cognos, to include: Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Metric Studio, Event Studio, Cognos Business Insight, Cognos Real Time Monitoring, Cognos Mash Up, Cognos Mobile, and Cognos Administration. Candidate must work with and support end users of all associated organizations and functional areas. Mentoring and training of the client will also be part of this effort. • Strong practical knowledge of COGNOS Business Insight is a requirement. • Minimum of 6 years experience with business intelligence (Cognos) and relational databases. Must have a thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical, development and problem-solving capabilities • Strong analytical, decision making/problem solving and critical thinking skills • Articulates relevant information and directions in an organized and concise manner • Ability to document requirements and specifications in a clear and concise manner • Experience with change control management • Effective facilitation and interpersonal skills The candidate must have 4-6 years of experience with all phases of a project life cycle using tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and Visio; implementing and utilizing Business Intelligence solutions such as Cognos. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential ensuring the creation and implementation of requirements and scope documentation, data mapping, design documentation and Quality Assurance Test Plans and Matrices. Desired skills: * Experience with involvement in business requirements gathering sessions, utilizing the IBM iSeries (DB2) platform would be beneficial. * Knowledge and understanding of higher education in the state and the Commission on Higher Educations mission, programs and objectives is helpful along with understanding the federal guidelines for Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.
