Evaluates possible side effects and the overall effectiveness of medication. Performs BLS (Basic Life support), CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and other emergency responses. Participates in emergency response setting. The Viral Hepatitis Program within the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) has programmatic oversight of Tennessees viral hepatitis surveillance, prevention, navigation, clinical, and community outreach activities statewide. This position provides mission critical support to the Viral Hepatitis Program by engaging, educating, and referring clients to important resources such as hepatitis B virus care, hepatitis C virus treatment, substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, etc. This position will also provide mission critical support to the Viral Hepatitis Program by enacting a streamlined statewide approach to field investigations for acute hepatitis B virus and acute hepatitis C virus, as well as by ensuring a standardized approach to laboratory processing and surveillance efforts for hepatitis B virus. Perform field investigations (by phone) for persons with either acute hepatitis B virus or acute hepatitis C virus; provide appropriate documentation in surveillance registry; provide client referrals to hepatitis B virus services as requested. Process hepatitis B virus laboratory reports (paper and electronic) within surveillance registry. Perform navigation efforts for persons with acute hepatitis B virus or acute hepatitis C virus and provide appropriate documentation in project-specific database. Participate in calls and meetings with project manager and programmatic staff as requested. Perform other programmatic duties as assigned.
