The position encompasses researching, testing, and implementing technology to support telephony and video services as well as providing security for those services. Must have great instincts to recognize and prioritize emerging service issues and bring the appropriate level of attention and resources to successfully resolve them. Has a strong ability to synergize with other IT teams and shows great diplomacy. Responsibilities • Build high-quality UC and Voice solutions to our internal associates to ensure their investment in technology is consistent with their business objectives. • Assist Telecom Architect and Network Engineering in developing and implementing the technical architecture and physical design of the network supporting the UC and Voice solution portfolio. • Provide analysis and troubleshooting for platform and associated products and technologies. • Provide operational support for internal customers using messaging and related services, including moderately complex support issues. • Proactively identify potential issues in the UC environments. Alert associates and peers as appropriate, and assist with root cause analysis. • Assist with compilation of accurate monthly reporting of telecom environments, including usage and ensuring plans are optimized to meet corporate financial goals. • Support vendor relationships, research new and emerging technologies related to telecom infrastructures. • Document technical environments, processes, procedures, test plans, and project plans. • Plans, designs, implements and supports changes to the environment. Education Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent education in a related discipline is required. Experience Required • 3-5 Years of Avaya Telecom Engineering experience. • Microsoft Lync • Video Conferencing: Peer to Peer and Telepresence • Cisco WebEx • Contact Center and Call Recording • Understanding of Telephony network technologies including: VoIP, SIP, legacy networks. • Active Directory/LDAP • Overall understanding of network protocols – TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, subnets, routes, FTP, SSH, Telnet, windowing systems, etc. • Proven ability to recognize issues and lead appropriate activities. • Previous history of interaction with UC vendors and carrier knowledge. • A working knowledge of voice technical standards and solutions. • Experience with project management, lifecycle management and critical path scheduling.
