These services provide critical foundation for large-scale enterprise supporting multiple state agencies. This support includes but is not limited to storage area network (SAN) management, management of attached storage devices, and administration of backup and restore operations implemented on Tivoli Storage Manager and Commvault. The Backup Administrator will be responsible for off-site media management and periodic testing of disaster recovery plans. The Backup Administrator actively supports the production backup of MS SQL Server database environments, oracle database environments, and ever increasing multi-fold enterprise data volumes. Specific responsibilities include: • Maintaining and expanding the existing Backup strategy and infrastructure • Working directly with colleagues to maintain and evolve the Disaster Recovery Planning, Testing and Response for the Enterprise • Leveraging the Backup Infrastructure for Operational efficiency, including data staging, recovery and hardware migration • Collaborate with other team members on IT/Operations initiatives, including data center, network administration, backup and disaster recovery efforts and strategies • Participating in an on-call production technology support rotation • Maintains and monitors server hardware; tape libraries and associated tape hardware; storage networks and associated hardware; Tivoli Storage Manager; and vendor-provided storage management software. • Applies patches to device firmware, operating systems and application software. • Effectively communicate with vendors and technical support to solve system issues. • Evaluates customer needs and available technologies; works with customers to develop custom solutions. • Assists with business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) planning. • Writes and updates technical documentation. • Controls system access and security aspects of critical systems. • Demonstrates adherence with Change Control best practices. • Provides technical support and customer service directly to campus IT professionals. • Ensure excellent Customer Service throughout the Storage and Backup Group. • Partner with the Service Desk by setting and managing the expectations of customers. Below is the type of experience the contracting position must have: -Minimum 5 years backup experience with Tivoli Storage Manager or Commvault products. -Minimum 5 years Windows server and/or unix/linux experience. Experience with Tape library operations and media management.
