This position provides technical support and troubleshooting expertise to ensure the departments web infrastructure availability. This technical support includes technologies such as WebSphere, IIS/COTS apps, Java, application load testing tools, staging scripts, and web application security. The administrative technical support and management consists of configuration and daily production support activities including problem and change management, performance monitoring activities, problem resolution, recovery strategies, and consulting activities may include extensive coordination and consultation with many other technical support units, applications development units, staff, other State agencies, and vendors. Job duties also include development and implementation of web infrastructure and middleware, configurations, and staging of web applications in all DOT divisions. It serves as a consultant and provides direction to senior project leaders and managers in the architecture of systems. This position serves as 1 of the level 3 support positions responsible for maintenance and overall operations of web server and middleware infrastructure for the department and to assist application development and support staff to resolve issues with IT service delivery. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Systems Administrator capabilities with 5 years of experience, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of complicated tasks, a degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
