The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a large university in terms of student enrollment (42,000), physical size (935 acres on the main campus) and employees (16,000 staff and 2,000 faculty). As a top academic and research institution, the UW-Madison is seeking to provide robust workload automation and job scheduling services for the teaching, research, community service and administrative missions of the University. The UW-Madison is seeking IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) consultant with experience in IWS tool and migration from on-premise to IWS Software as a Service (SaaS). The successful proposer will assist the University in the goals outlined below. Proposed Project Scope The scope of this proposed engagement is limited to the installation of Cloud Agents, migration of Jobs, Job Streams, and other scheduling objects to the IBM SaaS environment, provide related support, knowledge transfer, and documentation. Key Assumptions 1. UW will provide a project resource to work with the proposer. The UW resource will be responsible for documenting the solution according to UW standards and for providing skills transfer to their backup and any other individuals requiring knowledge of the solution. 2. All hardware, OS, network, and database are supported by the IWA components to be deployed at UW. 3. The servers where IBM Cloud Agents is installed must either have direct access to the internet or via another server 4. Scheduling object definitions are imported as is without any optimization or enhancement. 5. In the interest of cost and budget, the scope of the implementation is limited to the function and features of IWA as listed in section 6. Enabling any additional functions, features, and integration points are not included. Activities Activity 1 - Project Kickoff and migration planning 1. Project kickoff meeting 2. Assist with migration planning Activity 2 - Install IBM Cloud Agents 1. Determine whether the servers where IBM Cloud Agents need to be installed has direct access to the internet 2. Determine a gateway server that has direct access to the internet for servers that dont have direct access to the internet 3. Install IBM Cloud Agents on gateways and servers Activity 3 - Migrate Scheduling object definitions 1. Export all scheduling object definitions from the current IWS environment 2. Analyze and exclude objects that wont be migrated to the SaaS environment 3. Import objects to the SaaS environment Activity 4 - Cutover planning 1. Create cut-over checklist 2. Assist with cut-over 3. Provide two (2) days of post cut-over support Activity 5 - Information Transfer 1. Provide information transfer to up to five (5) UW staff members. Activity 6 – Automation of Additional Business Processes 1. Automate additional business processes by creating Jobs and Job Streams and scheduling them in the SaaS env. At the time of this proposal, the exact scope and volume of this activity is unknown, as such, initially, this activity is limited to 40 hours and not a specific number or type of jobs. The activity is considered complete when all of the 40 hours are utilized. Deliverables 1. IWS 9.3 migrated to SaaS environment 2.
